It is farewell not now thou !!!!

I had !! decided to stop blogging here I wanter  a new blog but am not sharing it at mo till I build up some content I’ve just run out of steam. 13 Years is maybe a good place to stop here.I did try set a new blog up but it now seems you have to pay for WordPress and only have the new editor so I am going to continue here but the focus of winstonsdad is changing to wider writing and also more none book content I have just felt railroad by the blog last few years and just recently I am more into nature writing this may just be a short blip I love translated fiction but I just a little fed up and wanting new directions and had felt trapped as this blog has been so focused on Translation so maybe I need to just broaden the scope of post here as I want do post around days out and some just pictures I have taken here and there so anyway it will all be coming here I didn’t know that WordPress now see to charge and also use the new set up for post that I just don’t get on with so I am here to say. But expect new and different content from me .

I am worried about the changes at WP too. We have both been going for so long and have invested so much time and effort in it, and it feels as if we are a bit trapped. One thing I would suggest you do is to regularly save your content using the Export function so that if you do have to change platforms, you’ve still got all your content.
In the meantime, I’m glad you’re still here!

It was just less user friendly that when I set this up years ago so I’ll stop here I must save my content something I haven’t done

Oh good for you Stu … 13 years is a long time, and I can completely understand wanting to do something different. I’m intrigued by the idea of nature writing and look forward to seeing what you do. Will there be pics too? I’m glad you are changing focus rather than disappearing.

Yes I felt for a few years that i want to widen my reading but have felt the blog focus had railroad me but that’s just me being silly and I can do widen the scope of books I reviewed and content

I know it feels silly to feel railroaded but your own blog, but I do understand. Our blogs become part of us and it is always hard to change who we are or how we define ourselves. Your new plan sounds invigorating.

Good for you! I have done the same thing. Changed the focus of the blog, redesigned it a bit and got rid of the Penguin book collecting and motorbike tales as I don’t do either anymore. It was a breath of fresh air, so take a break, get organised and come back. We’ll keep following you. 13 years is a long time. I had been going about 12 yrs before I changed. Must be something in that.

I think you should definitely following your reading inclinations and write about what you want here, Stu. It’s your blog and so you should follow your heart. I know what you mean about WP becoming less straightforward nowadays, and definitely recommend doing what Lisa says and backing up your content!

Oh that new editor is just isn’t user friendly to me I just felt railroad to read translations which I love but maybe not as passionate as I once was and maybe a little burnt out and so many other books I want to try over time

I totally understand Stu although I’m sad to see you go. I enjoyed getting input about the translated books. I got so annoyed by the ads I started paying a few years ago and it’s a bummer because it doesn’t always seem worth it. Like I said, I understand.

Sometimes one is just ready for a bit of a change, so I get it. Look forward to seeing what you do next
