Am I being a jerk if I just point to Wuthering Expectations circa 2011-12, to my Portuguse Literature Challenge? Lots of good books there.

Or even better, prowl around St. Orberose.

The Man With Seven Names by Alves Redol. Knopf 1964. Terrific realist novel with vibrant writing, politics, imperialism, unreliable narrator–just wonderful.
Second the Lusiads. For Saramago I like The History of the Siege of Lisbon and The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis (after some Pessoa) but it’s all good. All Pessoa.

Lots of Saramago, of course😉 I want to try more by Eça de Queiroz, and I’d really like to get my hands on a copy of ‘The Maias’. By the way, is this the Margaret Jull Costa translation?
